CrossFit Experience:I have been doing CrossFit for almost three years now.
Favorite WOD/Exercise: I enjoy back squats.
PR Pride:180 was my PR for my back squat. I was pretty proud of this one.
Least Favorite WOD/Exercise: Running and assault bike would hands down be my least favorite exercise.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Leah Karr. I’m 34 years old. I have been teaching for 11 years in the Barberton City School District. I currently teach second grade which has been my all time favorite grade so far. I have been married to my wonderful and extremely supportive husband, Jordan, for seven years now. I wouldn’t have made the progress I have if it wasn’t for him. We have two beatiful daughters named Grace and Henley. I love being a mom to these two energetic strong willed girls!
Why did you start CrossFit?
I joined CrossFit because I was not in a good place with my health. I had a nine month old baby and I weighed more than I have ever weighed. I was out of shape and not as healthy as I should be. I knew I needed to do something so I would be a better mother, wife, and happier person in general. My sister talked me into doing a 60 day Paleo challenge. This jump-started my weight loss. One of my best friends, Stacy Chisnell, and my sister Krista talked me into doing the boot camp at 330. So I reluctantly and scared to death caved in and joined! Which was the best choice I have made for myself! I did however, find out week one on boot camp that I was pregnant with my second child! This was a bit of a surprise, but wonderful news. Morning sickness made things difficult but I stuck with it and joined CrossFit after Boot Camp.
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I love the community and the friends I have made. The coaches at the gym are helpful and so knowledgeable. I have accomplished so many things I never thought possible.
What motivates you to CrossFit?
My health and family are the true motivations that keep me in CrossFit, plus I love it! I want my daughter to look up to a strong, healthy, confident mother. I want to be here for them as long as I possibly can.
What goals would you like to achieve in the next year that CrossFit can help you with?
I would love to finally finally be able to get toes to bar, reach my goal weight, and maybe get more than two double unders together at a time.
What would you tell someone who was thinking about starting CrossFit, but was nervous or scared?
Just take a leap of faith and join! It may be one of the most intimidating and scary things you do, but trust me as soon as you step in the doors at CrossFit 330 you will feel welcome and supported. It will be the best thing you do for yourself! It was for me!
