CrossFit Experience: Well here I am going on three years! And loving every moment of it.
Favorite WOD/Exercise: I think a Tabata is one of my favorites. There are a variety of WODs that I enjoy simply because of the variety and working all parts of the body.
Least Favorite WOD/Exercise: I would have to say the bike is my least favorite, did I mention the bike, oh then there is the bike. Lol. I have a love hate relationship with it, but working on it.
Tell us about yourself. Name (first and last), age, background, job etc.
Proud mother of three adult children that have blessed me with four wonderful grandchildren. In 10 months I will be retiring with 30 years of services from Summit County Children Service.
Why did you start CrossFit?
I met Michelle Sutton at a health fair at my work. After a short conversation with her she said come give it a try. I believe my remark was I’m too old and I cannot do any of that stuff. I know I needed to start moving and be more active so I gave it a try and became hooked immediately.
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I would have to say the trainers, the CF330 family. We are all there for our own personal goals and everyone is so supportive of each other no matter what size or age. I love the group workouts no matter what level you are working towards.
What is a PR (Personal Record) that you are proud of?
Everything I said I couldn’t do that I am doing and always finishing maybe not first, but not giving up. Running, flipping tires, climbing the rope, squats, lifting weights properly.
What motivates you to CrossFit?
I workout at 5 a.m. with my daughter and a wonderful group of fun and loving strong women that keep each other accountable to show up and give it our all. The trainers always give me that push and motivation!!!!!! I have such a feeling of acceptance amongst my peeps.
What goals would you like to achieve in the next year that CrossFit can help you with?
Well the trainers have helped me in so many ways already. Keeping me dedicated and young at heart. I had shoulder surgery this year and I was helped by CF trainers in rehabilitation. The biggest thing that CF can help me with is helping me maintain my Osteoporosis through the variety of WODs. Prior to my joining CF I had a 33% bone loss in my back and 18% loss in my hips and taking Prolia injections . I am happy to report that my last scan with my dedication and workouts i have been able to maintain it in single digits. Thanks to the impact of the WODs.
What would you tell someone who was thinking about starting CrossFit, but was nervous or scared?
You CAN do anything you put your mind too. Aging is the cycle of life so, try working out and make the quality of life while you are living better. Come give it a try and see what it’s all about and join our CF family.
