Age: 47
CrossFit Experience: I did the 6 week Bootcamp in 2016 and then went right into CrossFit. With both combined, it’s been about 4 years total.

Favorite WOD/Exercise:I love working with the barbell. Something about the feel of it in your hands just makes you feel so strong. I wish that I had been introduced to weightlifting when I was younger and more of an athlete without the limitations of age.

What is a PR (personal record) you are proud of? I was able to Rx one of the open workouts the first year I joined 330. I didn’t complete it of course, but I was able to get through 30 deadlifts at 155# and move onto the next movement.

Least Favorite WOD/Exercise: Burpees. Effing burpees.

Tell us about yourself.

The titles of wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend are the ones I’m most proud of. I’m a supervisory accountant for a government agency that prepares financial statements for the Navy and Marine Corps. I love my job because at the end of the day, I’m doing something good to help out the men and women that help provide our country’s freedoms and protection.

Why did you start CrossFit?

I have always struggled with my weight. A friend told me about a Bootcamp that she was going to start and said I should join her. I started Bootcamp and talked my husband into starting CrossFit, since he was training for a Spartan race.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

I would say the community. When my husband and I joined, we had no idea that we’d be making some of the deepest friendships of our lives. Not only at 330, but at any gym we’ve visited around the world. We’ve crossfitted in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Houston, and Germany, as well as others in Ohio. No matter where we drop in, we always feel like we’re visiting olds friends.

What motivates you to CrossFit?

The community. I love the inclusion that coming to the gym provides. I love encouraging other people and being a source of positivity for them because I know how hard it is to get/stay fit and healthy. As a by-product of that, I receive encouragement and positivity from others.

What goals would you like to achieve in the next year that CrossFit can help you with?

Continue with regular attendance, so that it will motivate me to eat healthier and see lasting change.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about starting CrossFit, but was nervous or scared?

Come and see what our classes look like. There will most certainly already be someone there that is your same fitness level so that you don’t feel alone. We’re not made of body builders and bikini models. We’re real people.. striving to be fitter.. and encouraging others to do the same.
